About Evening Star Coffee Roasters

Our Roasted Coffee Inspection

What makes our coffee better than the competition?
The Coffee and our inspection process!

In addition to inspecting the coffee beans prior to roasting Evening Star Coffee Roasters examines and reviews the coffee we roast after the roasting process.  If a particular coffee bean looks subpar we dispose of that bean in an environmentally conscious manner.

In the picture provided you will see Indiana reviewing and inspecting the coffee beans with his dad.  He is much older and wiser now.

Our Inspiration for Evening Star Coffee Roasters

The Evening Star Coffee Roasters name was inspired by a wonderful stray cat named “Star.” One cold winter day in 2001, “Star” showed up on my porch hungry and cold so I fed him and invited him into my home. It took a few days to earn his trust, but soon after he took ownership of my home. After a few weeks of calling him “buddy”, I decided he needed a name of his own. Deciding on a name was difficult until the day he laid on his back and stretched out from head to toe while he looked up at the sky in wonder. It was almost as if he was reaching for the stars. Immediately after he did this I named him “Star.” He became a loved member of the family until his passing in April of 2006. He is our inspiration for the business name.

Meet the Roaster & Owner

Thoughts-  What I pride most about the business is the fact that all of our new business since 2011 is strictly referrals.  I feel this is a testament to the level of service and quality we provide our customer base.

Comment on roastingRoasting coffee is an art-form requiring skill, dedication, and attention to detail.   I personally dedicate my time to perfecting roasts weekly for Evening Star Coffee Roasters.  This gives me the confidence that the quality of our coffee will be exceptional.

Comments on charity- When you have an opportunity to donate to charity never turn the opportunity down.  Here at Evening Star Coffee Roasters we support any and all local charities in a manner we feel appropriate when asked to participate.  We also search out new charities to see what we can do to help.   I always feel it comes back to us in a positive way ten-fold.

Thoughts on prayer-  As odd as it may sound…..I pray over every batch of coffee.  I ask for direction and leadership from above to make amazing coffee.  My prayers are always answered.

Standing Out From The Competition

What makes us stand out from the competition?  The Coffee!
Evening Star Coffee Roasters chooses to keep a modest product offering list in an effort to put our energy into to perfection.  We concentrate on purchasing the highest quality green coffees worldwide, and combine that with successful small-batch roasting.  That’s our formula for success.  We maintain control over our coffee by testing each and every roast we complete.  Only when we are 100% satisfied with the result the coffee gets packaged.   This consistent testing gives us sustained control over our coffee quality.

We find that many competitors who carry thousands of café supplies in addition to coffee beans are unable to control quality and maintain the highest quality standards.  They simply don’t have enough time in a day or week to do so.  The result is a lower quality coffee that gets produced, packaged, and consumed.  Our limited product offerings allow us to focus our time on purchasing and creating the most amazing roasted coffee.

We stand by our motto, “We roast to perfection when the order is placed.”  We are confident you will taste the difference with Evening Star Coffee Roasters as your coffee Artisan.  We invite you to see, and taste, the difference!

Where Roasting To Perfection began

Evening Star Coffee Roasters was located at 2055 Pole Bridge Road in Avon, NY for many years.  The business began in 2008 and was surrounded by beautiful farm land used for growing soy and corn each year.  The view was stunning especially with deer, squirrels, birds, rabbits, and fox visiting the area daily.   The business was located in a residential area in the Town of Avon where we lived for many years.   The community, neighbors and Town of Avon were always very welcoming and supportive with our dream of creating a “home grown business”.    We now look forward to the newest chapter in success and are excited to see the changes that will occur at our old location as we grow in our new location.

5700 Tec Drive (2017)

Evening Star Coffee Roasters is one of the most modern, clean and organized business designs in all of New York State.  The design focuses on lean manufacturing practices with a goal of utilizing the building space to its fullest capacity.  Evening Star Coffee Roasters is designed to support many years of growth.

We take pride in the beauty and cleanliness of our business and are excited to grow in our new space.

May God Bless all.

Our Delivery & Presentation Vehicles

Our efforts focus on Environmentally Friendly activities. We feel it’s important to do more than talk about caring for the environment. Therefore, we demonstrate our concern through our activities in the community. In an effort to conserve natural resources we drive a Nissan NV Cargo Van with a 6 cylinder engine.   We’re proud to say the vehicle still looks like new and is 16year old and still going strong.

As we are in your community delivering coffee, we invite you to talk with us about coffee.

Traveling Mug

We welcome retirement for our trailer and traveling mug.  The mug was an addition in 2009 for creative advertising.  The mug stands over 8ft tall with a diameter of 12ft at the top of the mug.

Cousin Jason getting friendly with my coffee cup!  He really loves his coffee!   The mug frequented festivals, parades and new local business openings that were serving our coffees.

The mug now sits mounted to the ground vs. trailer for safety purposes.  As fun as the mug was sitting on the trailer a concern I always had was people climbing on the trailer for photos.  Now people can stand safely in front of the mounted mug for photos.

Steaming Cup Coffee

For safety and security purposes the mug is now a permanent structure mounted to concrete.  For many years we were always concerned about people climbing on the mug trailer for photos.  As exciting as it was to get photos, the chance of someone falling from the mobile trailer was always a concern.  We now have a safer way for visitors to get photos.

Our Coffee Journey

On 12/28/2025 my family traveled to the wonderful country of Dominican Republic.  Our journey was filled with learning about coffee farming and the beauty of planting and growing coffee trees.  The altitude was a bit to get used to as the farm was high up on the mountainside.   I was overwhelmed by such beauty in the countryside.  A peacefulness set in and we felt the presence of God all around us.   The people we met were both humble and happy.  As many live in poverty these folks count their blessings and cherish the coffee trees as well as God’s presence.  They are not afraid to give thanks to God!   What I am most grateful for was the ability after 16 years of operation to gather up some funds and travel as a family to have this wonderful experience.    I have always been proud to select brokers that help to improve the lives of the farms and farmers.   Seeing it first-hand makes what we do in selecting coffee beans that much more impactful.  Secretly my son’s best part of the journey were the friendly stray cats we wanted to smuggle home to Avon, NY
